The Nigerian Author and Political Economist Michael Ogueke asked how important job experience is in a country’s leadership. Professor Ogueke took to his social media account to pose this question. He took the opportunity to applaud the former governor of Lagos State for the development he introduced to Lagos. Professor Ogueke believes that the growth in Lagos is due to the experience of Bola Ahmad Tinubu.

Professor Ogueke stated that under the governance of Bola Ahmad Tinubu, development in Lagos was equal to that of a nation. In the social media post, Professor Ogueke observed that Many Nigerians at home & abroad give so many reasons why Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not take credit for the success of Lagos state. He further argued that it was not correct.

He stated that Today, the state of Lagos is competing as a different country inside Nigeria. The state is achieving phenomenal infrastructural, developmental, agricultural & socio-economic revolution far exceeding 50 out of 54 other African countries.

Professor Ogueke credited the development of the state of Lagos to the former government headed by Bola Ahmad Tinubu. Further, Professor Michael Ogueke noted, Is there potential in Lagos that was not there since independence in 1960 till Tinubu became governor in 1999? Is any potential in Lagos absent in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River & Delta states?

Further, he questioned how it was possible that none of the governors that ruled the states could grow them in terms of revenue & development. How were they unable to do what Tinubu & his chosen successors did & are doing in Lagos?

Professor Ogueke allowed that these states have developed in the last few years. However, the level of development is different from that in Lagos. He believes this is because one needs to buy leadership knowledge, experience & will for developing a state in the marketplace.
