A mob has incinerated two unidentified men at the Igando axis of Lagos state for allegedly robbing a POS attendant.

The tweet of the police spokesperson reported the information about the incident. The police spokesperson took to his social media to inform the residents.

According to a tweet posted by Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesperson in Lagos, the incident took place around 3:00 PM on Saturday at a hotel bus stop along Iseri-Igando road in the state.

The police spokesperson, Hundeyin, said the men were burnt beyond recognition. The mob, suspected of being responsible for the act of lawlessness, fled the scene after committing the crime.

He added that the police authorities of the state of Lagos had started a probe and investigations into the matter.

The tweet of the police spokesperson, Hundeyin read:

Yesterday (Sept 30), at Igando, two men allegedly robbed a POS attendant. A mob descended on them and set them ablaze; burnt beyond recognition. Police arrived but the mob had fled. The investigation has commenced. Again, how do we put a stop to this archaic and criminal practice?

In this tweet, he asked the state’s residents what the authorities could do to stop these practices.

The incident came to the authorities’ attention months after three suspected motorcycle thieves were set ablaze by a mob in the Ayobo area of the state.

Further, in May, two men, who remain unknown, were burnt to death by a mob at the Ijesha axis of Lagos over the alleged theft of mobile phones.

In this case, Allegedly, The suspects had 18 mobile phones suspected to be stolen items.

Such criminal and outrageous activities are increasingly on the rise after, in the last few months. The police authorities of the various areas of Nigeria, including Lagos, are doing their best to keep the criminal offences committed in their jurisdiction to a bare minimum.
