PM Drew engages in talks with Amit Telang, committed to foster bilateral relations

Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared a glimpse of his meeting with Amit Telang- the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of India

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared a glimpse of his meeting with Amit Telang- the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of India and his wife, Depali Telang, along with his delegation. The meeting took place at the Office of the Prime Minister on Wednesday.

The meeting emphasized on fostering the bilateral relations of both nations. The St Kitts- Nevis Labour Party Administration expressed its commitment to focusing on the crucial matters that will help in the development of both.


Notably, the delegates from India and St Kitts and Nevis held talks on matters of concern such as climate change, climate action, environmental sustainability, and many more with a prime focus on Sustainable Island State Agenda of the Federation.

Further, PM Drew took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to express his delight in the meeting he had with Amit Telang.

“It was a pleasure meeting with His Excellency Dr. Amit Telang, the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of India, his wife, Dr. Depali Tekang, and his delegation. The St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration is committed to strengthening bilateral relations and other key matters crucial to both nations. We look forward to fostering collaboration in the areas of climate action and environmental sustainability to address shared challenges and promote sustainable development”, added Prime Minister Drew.

The table was joined by Indian delegates such as Ramesh Mulkanoor – The Honorary Consul of India; Mukesh Kaushik – First Secretary (Pol & Cons) at the High Commission of India, and Manoj Kumar (Eco & Com)- Head of Chancery at the High Commission of India.

From St Kitts and Nevis, PM Drew was accompanied by Naeemah Hazelle – Permanent Secretary and Sheldon Henry – the Foreign Service Officers in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Moreover, Telang extended an invitation to PM Drew to visit the Republic of India. The meeting is expected to bring positive outcomes, underscoring their shared dedication to addressing the global challenges collectively.


Additionally, the High Commissioner and leader of SKN exchanged the ideas to tackle the climate change and shared expertise and resources to reduce its impact.
