Emmanuel Bonne assures French support to India in UNSC, G-20

Diplomatic advisor to French president, Emmanuel Bonne, assured his support towards India for a permanent seat in the UNSC, G-20 presidency

Diplomatic advisor to France’s president, Emmanuel Bonne, has reiterated his support towards India for a permanent seat in the UNSC (United Nations Security Council.). Simultaneously, he praised the relationship between the true countries in the United Nations Security Council.

The Finacial Advisor of President Macron was in India on Thursday, January 5, 2023, for his first visit to India. Bonne was in India for the 36th session of the Indo-French Strategic Dialogue. While in the country, Emmanuel Bonne held discussions on various topics with his Indian Counterpart, Ajit Doval.

The discussion between the two officials of their governments revolved around all sorts of topics involving India and France’s strategic partnership. Some subjects were counterterrorism collaboration, cyber security, and space policy. The two diplomats also discussed the significant global and regional challenges, including Ukraine’s conflict and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.

India and France’s relationship will complete 25 years in the upcoming months, and thus, politically, France’s first visit to India is of utmost importance. The visit will pave the way for an ambitious expansion of the partnership between India and France.

According to the official statement by the government of France, Emmanuel called on PM Narendra Modi and EAM Dr S, Jaishankar during his visit. He also interacted with the G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant. During his meetings and interactions, he stressed France’s continued support towards India for the G20 presidency. The French Diplomat further relayed President Macron’s message to India. France’s president believes that cooperation between India and France would be critical to tackling global challenges in 2023

India and France established diplomatic relations with one another in 1988. The relationship, forged, has grown leaps and bounds since the quarter century that passed between then and now. The association is based on mutual trust, a joint vision for a multipolar, rules-based world order and shared democratic values.
