St Kitts and Nevis organizes J’ouvert fest, leaders share glimpses

St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee, the organizing committee of the National Carnival, Sugar Mas 51, has shared an update on their social media account to to inform regarding the successful hosting of the J'ouvert after the two-year hiatus.

St Kitts and Nevis is successfully hosting the J’Ouvert after a hiatus of two years. The World Health Organization’s directive necessitated the break due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Last time, St Kitts and Nevis hosted the J’ouvert as part of the Sugar Mas Carnival in 2019. This year, political leaders, citizens and residents from across the islands have attended the event in great numbers

Traditionally, the J’ouvert is described as the official day of the break or the start of the Carnival. J’Ouvert is an essential part of the Carnival Celebrations in Caribbean regions.

The leaders, residents and citizens of St Kitts and Nevis have taken to their social media accounts to share their experience attending the festivities.

The Facebook pages of all the prominent political leaders, including the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, The Minister of Creative Economy, Samal Duggins and others, had posted photographs of the event.

Prime Minister’s Post shared some images with the caption saying he was enjoying the Sugar Mas 51 Jouvert festivities.

Meanwhile, Minister Samal Duggins‘ post announced that There’s no Jouvert like a Sugar Mas Jouvert.

Senior Minister and former leader of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, Dr Denzil Douglas, also shared some images on social media registering his presence at the J’ouvert.

He wrote that he was very happy to meet and greet so many of our Nationals and Visitors as he made his way through the crowded streets of Basseterre, packed with Revelers and Onlookers.

Minister of Public Utilities Konris Maynard and Tourism Minister Marsha Handerson also shared glimpses of the J’ouvert festivities.
