The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, attended the National Ecumenical Service on Friday, February 17, 2023. The government of Saint Lucia hosted the church service as part of the scheduled celebration of the 44th anniversary of the country’s independence. The Deputy Prime Minister shared glimpses of the event on his social media.
The service was hosted at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 9:30 AM. to 11:45 AM. The government arranged the event under the guidance of The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment, which has oversight of Ecclesiastical Affairs.
Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire expressed in his social media post that “In all we do, we must give the most high praises for giving us the breath of life to see another day and another year.” The event concluded under the theme: Douvan Ansanm – One People Shaping Our Destiny”.
The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment, which has oversight of Ecclesiastical Affairs, extended an invitation to all the people of Saint Lucia to attend the National Ecumenical Service hosted as a part of the independence day celebration.
Several important dignitaries of Saint Lucia registered their presence at the celebration event. Here, Deputy Prime Minister Hilaire also delivered some remarks for the attendants of the event. While delivering his remarks, The minister of tourism, the creative economy and Investment et al. talked about the significance of the National Ecumenical Service.
Acting Governor-General of Saint Lucia Errol Charles, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip J. Pierre and Leader of the government Opposition Allen Chastanet, along with several other prominent members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps and other special guests registered their attendance at the auspicious event.
Meanwhile, the Non-Government organizations connected with the Ministry of Equity and Staff of the Public Service also took the opportunity to attend the service.
