Anambra State Government has warned individuals and groups impersonating the state building regulatory body to desist immediately.

Anambra State Government has warned individuals and groups impersonating the state building regulatory body to desist immediately. Any attempts to impersonation of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board will result in legal consequences.

The Chairman of the Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, communicated the warning in an interview with journalists at the Board’s Corporate Headquarters in Amawbia.

Reportedly, Chairman Barrister Maduekwe has received an overwhelming number of queries from government and private individuals. According to the reports, some people are pasting demand notices and soliciting money from citizens. This way, they are attempting to undermine the Board’s legal duty.

According to Barrister Maduekwe, the group even demands money from people they , have given approvals for building houses. The individuals are wrongfully telling the public that they are now in charge of physical planning, making control and regulation.

Consequently, Barrister Maduekwe warned that he would alert the State Governor, the police and the State House of Assembly. He warned that they are committed to enforcing the law against those working against the interest and development of the state.

Barrister Maduekwe, acknowledged that because of the challenges they reached an understanding with relevant professional bodies. These professional bodies include:

The physical Planning Board has contacted these professional bodies to get collaborations amid the impersonation issues.

The collaboration is coming as a result of the activities of quacks. The government of Anambra is doing this to ensure that they can sanitize the building control process.

He added that the government of Anambra expects professional bodies to work in tandem with the physical planning authority to get the building code. The Chairperson of the Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, pointed out that in the future, the government of Anambra state will sue such individuals for impersonation and aberration.
