Bayelsa Gov attends event to honor Justice Kate Abiri

Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, attended several events lined up to honour the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Justice (Mrs.) Kate Abiri. The events organized in the state hailed Justice Abiri for her meritorious service to Bayelsa and Nigeria.

The Governor, Douye Diri, attended the event alongside his wife, Justice Ama Zuofa Diri. She is also a part of the law fraternity and has attained great accomplishments throughout her career. The event organizers warmly welcomed her into the events hosted in honour of Justice Kate Abiri.


Several other members of the legal fraternity are also in attendance at the event at Bayelsa State, including the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan.

The event was a gathering of who is who in the legal profession. Additionally, the community of members of the law fraternity served to mark the commencement of the 2022/23 Legal Year. The event further culminated in the Valedictory Court Session. Top Judicial Officers and senior members of the Bar across the country attended the event.

Different speakers from the law fraternity attended the events lined up in honour of Justice Abiri. All the individuals talked in great detail about the great virtues of Justice Abiri and her distinguished contribution to the growth of the Judiciary in Nigeria.

Later that day, the former President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, registered their presence at the public presentation of three books in honour of the retired Chief Judge at the Banquet Hall, Government House.

Justice Kate Abiri has written several books in her long and illustrious career at the top of the legal profession. One of the books authored by a seasoned journalist, Charles Tambou, titled “Kate Abiri: Footprints on the Bench”, documents her life journey and legal career of over three decades.
