He stated that Education is, and will continue to be, the basic priority of our administration in the State. Consequently, he said he can not over-emphasize the place that Education occupies in our government. That is why we welcome you with our two hands open.

Governor Diri stated that I like to place on record that when we were in the House of Representatives, I was on the basic education committee. He informed his guest that every time we talked about UBEC counterpart funding, the chairman of my committee would draw my attention to the fact that our State needs to meet up with our counterpart funding. However, today, then the situation is completely reversed.

The governor noted that as we speak, the Bayelsa State government has done their counterpart funding up to 2022. Meanwhile, the administration is still waiting for funding from the federal government. He asserted that the administration is ready for 2023.

Governor Douye Diri stated, “We appreciate your coming and believe you have opened a new vista of the relationship between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Bayelsa State government. Further, he stated that this relationship will further enhance the growth and development of Education in the State and Nigeria.”
