Bayelsa hosts Education Summit, Gov applauds committee

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has recently signed the report of the education summit.

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has recently signed the report of the education summit. The signing ceremony took place on January 12, 2023. The Governor of Bayelsa state received the educational policy document from the members of the Educational Summit Committee. At the same time, the Governor also appreciated the committee members for their teamwork.

The education summit committee, headed by Gentle Emelah, met Senator Douye Diri at the government house in Yenagoa. The leader committee is the chairman and Commissioner for Education in Bayelsa. The state hosted the Educational summit when schools opened for a new session.

Earlier this week, the state received the Federal Minister of Education for the state, Goodluck Nanah Opiah. During the meeting with the minister, Governor Douye Diri stressed the priority given to education in the Bayelsa state.

During that meeting, he urged the federal government to meet the funding requirements for education in the state. At the start of the new term of school, the education summit committee presented Senator Diri with the policy document.

When he signed the document, the Governor of Bayelsa expressed his pleasure at signing the education summit. As per the Governor, the state held a conference to develop the education sector to the next level. The Governor, Senator Douye Diri, thanked the educational summit committee members for arranging the event.

Further, Governor Diri noted that Today marks the watershed in the education sector of Bayelsa State. He believes that with the full implementation of the technical committee’s recommendation they discussed during the summit, Bayelsa State will always be different educationally.

He further thanked the committee, stating, “I thank you for using your time to plan for the educational sector, you invited some of the very finest brains, and I appreciate all of you for the teamwork.”
