People of Nigeria are criticising a Catholic priest and Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, for commenting on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as a “stingy man”.

Nigerians have condemned the statement and gave statements on Twitter saying that the cleric described the presidential candidate as a “stingy man” as he (Mbaka) couldn’t “blackmail Obi emotionally”.

Mbaka lured online condemnation after he stated the ex-Anambra State governor couldn’t win next year’s general election as he is ‘stingy’.

While stating in one of his programmes in Enugu, the cleric said that it would be impossible for Obi to win the presidential elections, further adding that an old man president will be better than a ‘stingy young man’.

He said that a stingy man that couldn’t give people his money, with this hunger, was ruining the land, and people were saying he was the one they wanted. Do they want to die of hunger? Are you people insane? Where is the Holy Spirit?

He further said that he doesn’t think that Obi is an evil man, but he is a stingy man. A hungry man likes someone that is generous; the man has so much cash, but he is all about himself. He just thinks about the betterment of his own. But that money will not be beneficial to him. I am very glad now that I have spoken out. That apology is a deadly curse against Peter Obi.

Mbaka stated that if he was wise, he must have come here after that apology to say that he was sorry, but he waited. Anybody who is supporting him is wasting his time and efforts but is going nowhere.

On the other hand, Nigerians on Twitter have condemned the cleric after his comments while asking to him stay apolitical.
