Nigeria: Police officers in Anambra have found a hotel in the Nkpor area where children between the ages of 14 to 17 were being used as sex slaves and prostitutes as well as in baby factory. The hotel management collected money on their behalf and let men to sleep with them for a charge.
During a statement on Wednesday, June 15, Tochukwu Ikenga, the Spokesperson of the Police in Anambra, stated operatives broke into a hotel named Gally Gally, which was being used for various crimes.
He stated that officials saved 35 girls, and four of them were found pregnant in an operation on June 13.
The suspect that has been arrested till now is Mrs Ifeoma Uzo, aged 35, Chidiebere Alaka, aged 28 and Nweke Chidiebere.
We have recovered three pump action guns, seven cartridges as well a cash sum of N877,500.
The suspects detained are in interrogation with a view of getting more information about their involvement and uncovering other gang members.
Ikenga further added that the police would hand over the victims to NAPTIP for the betterment and rehabilitation of the children.
He further said all suspects would be charged to court at the end of the investigations.
He stated preliminary investigation disclosed that most of the underaged girls were brought from different parts of the nation and lured into prostitution in the hotel on the pretext that they would be employed as salesgirls and waiters at the hotel.
He further revealed that a sum of N877,500 was rescued from the scene of the crime, while the hotel owner was still not found even as the police had extended their dragnet to capture him.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, has asked for a full-scale investigation and urged parents and guardians to take extreme care of children under their supervision to avert the spiralling impact of crime in the larger society.
