As per her, this sensitive issue which also coincided with a seminar was about motivating students to speak out against SGBV and stop the culture of silence.

She further explained that the sensitisation aimed to increase student ambassadors that are willing to champion the campaign against SGBV on the school premises and the surrounding environment.

As per her, the cases of SGBV are prevailing in rural communities and high schools, and there is no requirement to sensitise students to guide against the threat on the school premises and the society.

Essiet also disclosed that the NGO planned to visit a school around the six area councils of the FCT, particularly in the interior part of the council, while adding that schools in the city centre already had familiarity with SGBV.

As per her, people in rural areas are not giving much attention to SGBV issues, hence the plan regarding the visit, as the NGO has found from its baseline studies that everyone is impacted in one way or another.

However, she called on government agencies for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and National Orientation Agency (NOA) to do more to sensitise young Nigerians to SGBV.

She also called for the formation of the Save Space Centre in all schools where young ambassadors could reach people about the right thing on SGBV, adding that the NGO will persist in sensitising Nigerians to SGBV.

Abiaziem Ikechukwu, the principal of the school, who the Vice Principal Administration represented, Sabi Ishaya, relished the NGO for bringing the campaign against SGBV to the school.
