In a bid to study and learn from the Edo State public procurement policies, e-Governance and other reforms in the State, a high-powered delegation from the Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement has undertaken a study of John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City.
Addressing the delegates at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, Benin City, the Managing Director (MD), Imuwahen Precious Ajoonu, told the delegates that 30 courses had been prioritized for the 2023 training calendar. According to her, they are leadership courses for Permanent Secretaries and other leadership positions in the service, such as Public Finance Courses, Digital and Adult Courses, Professional Excellence Courses, and Communication Courses, among others.
The MD added that “the State Government’s focus is to make every Edo State staff digitally literate. And as a result of the training resourcefulness and impact, every trainee undergoing training must formulate/draft a policy for their MDA before completing the course(s) with the JOOPSA academy.
While encouraging the Ogun State’s delegates to adopt the Edo State academy and establish the same for their State, Precious Ajoonu said, “Even though the training done in the academy is free for Edo residents only; however, the courses are beneficial, competitive and value-oriented to all participants, citizens or non-citizens.
The Governor’s core vision and mission is to change how the civil and public service is being run with the hope that other States of the federation emulate the Edo E-Governance and other reformation policies for a better Nigeria of our dream.”
While acknowledging Edo as the mentor of Ogun State in terms of Public Procurement procedures, the Director General, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr Adesina Olanloye, said, “They have learnt and embraced the Edo State Procurement procedures. With the reformations at JOOPSA, Edo is now the Centre of Reformation Excellence.”
