The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism in the government of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, recently took to his social media to outline the government’s achievements in the last eighteen months. The Minister also handles the responsibility of the Citizenship by Investment programme of the country. The representative Castries South extended his gratitude to the people of his constituency for choosing him to represent them.
Additionally, He thanked his constituents for supporting him throughout this journey for 18 months. Additionally, he thanked the staff of his various ministries for working and supporting him during this tenure. Accordingly, he laid down the various achievements of the Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, Board and Staff of CIP, ISL, CDF, SLTA and ECSL and the rest of the government of Saint Lucia over the last 18 months.
During the last eighteen months of governance:
– The government of Saint Lucia increased their Back to School Support
– They arranged for the immediate availability of Food Vouchers
– Government paid School Fees for the students with low-income families
– Subsidise flour to maintain the price of bread
– Subsidise fuel
– Reinstated the one laptop per child initiative
– FLOW bundles for households
– Restored the distress fund for the people of the country
– Started One Scholarship per household. The programme has benefitted over 200 students
– The government launched the Community Tourism Program
– Launched the Youth Economy
– They Launched the MSME Loan-Grant Facility
– Increased support to the Police
– Backpay for Civil Servants
As per the Minister of Tourism, Ernest Hilaire, This is only the start of many more great things. Here, he took the opportunity to announce the new Tourism Development Bill that will transform the tourism industry and make it more inclusive for Saint Lucians.
He asserted that they are putting the people of Saint Lucia first in all aspects of the governance. The government of Saint Lucia is working extremely hard for the upliftment and betterment of the people of Saint Lucia.
