The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information celebrated National Colours Day on Monday, February 20, 2023. The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, who also serves as the minister of tourism, recently attended the celebration, a part of the independence day celebration events. Saint Lucia will celebrate the 44th Anniversary of their independence on February 22, 2023.
The Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information shared glimpses from the celebration event on his social media account. At the same time, he also took the opportunity to express his excitement on seeing the members of his ministry decked in the national colours of Saint Lucia.
The celebration of the National Colors is a practice that is observed every year. The schools across the island also conduct special competitions to celebrate the Anniversary of independence. Minister Ernest shared several images of the event where he posed with the ministry members.
Ernest Hilaire cut the cake with The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information staff. The cake also featured the national colours of Saint Lucia, Black, blue and yellow. Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister also encouraged all the members of his constituency and the wider Saint Lucia to wear their National Colours today with pride.
The government of Saint Lucia had announced the calendar of events for the 44th Independence Anniversary celebrations. This year, the country is celebrating their independenve anniversary under the theme, ‘Douvan Ansanm: One People. Shaping Pur Destiny’. As per the government of Saint Lucia, the celebrations will include activities from Monday January 30, 2023 to Sunday March 12, 2023.
The country has obsereved several events under the banner of independence day celebrations. These include, Business Expos, church services etc. On Tuesday, February 21 the country will host raising of the flag and fireworks display as a part of these celebrations.
