Dispute over the delimitation of a coal mine in Darra Adamkhel Kohat resulted in the death of 16 people. The dispute broke out between two tribes, Sunikhel and Akhorwal of the Kohat area of Pakistan. Fourteen people died on the spot after the confrontation that turned bloody. The incident took place in the disputed mountain range on Monday, May 15, 2023. Both the tribes who formed the center of the conflict were part of the Hill Community of Bulandari.
The dispute between the two factions of the community turned violent resulting in the death of fourteen people on the spot. Meanwhile, the authorities took the other people who sustained injuries to the nearby hospital. The reports suggest that two more individuals succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The sources have further stated that the Dara Adamkhel Police Station recieved the FIR of the incident.Â
The individual who filed the First Incident Report at the police station named the two tribes for their involvement. The Sunikhel and the Akhorwal tribes have remained in conflict over the issue for a long time. The sources state that both the tribe share a common trait of adamance. Accordingly, the situation remains without a solution.Â
Meanwhile, the police believed that the adamant nature of the warring factions resulted in the incident becoming so violent. Both the tribes suffered significant casualties as a result of the conflict.Â
Some of the injured members from both the communities are currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Peshawar. Meanwhile, the police reached the scene of incident recently and took control of the matters. The police authorities interacted with the media personnel. They provided an update on the situation. According to the police, the situation results from a long standing conflict between the two tribes.
Even though the two tribes hail from the same community, their conflict regarding the demarcation of the mountains has been a hot topic for a long time.
