Writer, writing instructor, and social media influencer, Ella Obans, aka Emmanuella Obans took to her social media to reflect on personal growth. She took the opportunity to assert that as time passes, you begin to realize your own self-worth.

I remember when I was younger, whenever someone said demeaning words, I started crying and rushed to report it to my dad/mum/aunt.

However, a lot changed as I grew up. I suddenly don’t see the need to report anyone when they say words I don’t like. Sometimes, I didn’t hear them at all because I acted like nobody spoke.

Sometimes, Ella Obans stated that it’s easy to do. She stated that sometimes, it’s easier said than done. What changed? She confessed that as she grew up, she realized that when someone says I am stupid, it doesn’t mean I am stupid. Contrarily, It means that’s all they want to see. Further, she asserted that I was not to be blamed.

I am still the person from years back, but my understanding of who I am has changed. Hence, I bother less about all those negative words and who’s saying it. Dear fam, I need to give you this tip: Know who you are and understand what you carry inside of you.

You won’t compete with anyone the day you understand who you are. You won’t envy anyone. Further, You won’t take to heart other people’s misconduct. No matter what they choose to see, say or do, you already understand your identity, so you won’t easily become inclined to respond to them.

Light doesn’t struggle to shine. It doesn’t take permission to shine. You are that light; don’t give someone else the power to decide when you radiate or dim your light.

Always understand who you are, and remember who you are.
Always act in that regard. I hope this meets you well. Happy New Week.
