Dominica: Health Minister leads tour of Marigot Hospital ahead of Commissioning

The prime minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, took to his social media account to share some glimpses into the tour of the Marigot Hospital.

The prime minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, took to his social media account to share some glimpses into the tour of the Marigot Hospital. Cassanni Laville, the Minister for Health, Wellness, and Social Services, led the tour. Prime Minister Dr Skerrit shared his excitement for the satisfactory pace of work in the hospital.

He announced that the government would announce the official commissioning of the hospital in July. During the tour, Minister for Health, Wellness and Social Services shared some details on the project. She also discussed plans for the phased opening of the facility. Additionally, she provided an update on the array of health services the government will make available.

The Marigot Hospital is a significant project that the Dominica government started under Dr Roosevelt Skerrit’s leadership. The project aims to provide the best in-line facilities to the country’s people. The Marigot Hospital will begin operating in July 2023 after the official commissioning. Further, The leader of the hospital tour, Cassanni Laville, extended her gratitude to the community for their cooperation with the government.

The senior officials of the country’s health department also joined the tour. The government of Dominica is working towards their goal of becoming a climate-resilient nation. The construction of the hospital is a significant step in that direction. The government wanted to give the people of the country access to the best primary healthcare facilities, top-of-the-line world-class infrastructure and effective and accountable health governance.

The world-class infrastructure will be ready for operations quickly. The government will, accordingly, commission the hospital in July 2023.
