He had a stellar career in journalism spanning over 60 years before he died on Sunday, February 12, 2022. Reports suggest that Ellis was in his family’s presence at home at the time of his Death. The Saint Lucian Journalist has worked in the journalism fraternity in various important positions.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia paid a heartfelt tribute to him through his social media account. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the journalist’s family through the message. He wrote: I wish to share my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your loved one.

Pierre observed in his condolence message that Death always causes us to pause and reflect, and my memories bring me to our boy days growing up on Water Works Road, filled with dreams and endless pursuits.

In 1962, Guy Ellis started his career as a young reporter in the Voice. Ellis has worked diligently to climb the corporate ladder to become the managing editor of the two most prominent news publications of Saint Lucia: The Voice and The Mirror. Ellis’ importance in the journalistic fraternity can be evident in the fact that in a previous condolence message, the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, addressed him as “excellence itself.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Philip J Pierre extended his condolences to the whole country and the body of people who were affected due to the passing of the pioneering journalist. He wrote: I pray that you find comfort in the body of work that Guy has shared with this nation as a journalist, capturing so much of this nation’s history for future generations.
He finally expressed deep condolences stating, May he rest in peace.
