Bayelsa inaugurates Transport Terminal Building

Bayelsa State Government officially opened the Ultra-Modern Transport Terminal at Igbogene for the use of the general Bayelsan public on Thursday, February 9, 2023. The Governor of Bayelsa, Senator Douye Diri, attended the transport terminal’s inauguration ceremony. The Governor of the Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa, accompanied him. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson further joined them at the ceremony.

Senator Henry Dickson performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Ultra-Modern Transport Terminal at Igbogene. The former Governor of Bayelsa, Senator Dickson, originally thought of the transport terminal project. Meanwhile, Governor Diri took the opportunity at the inaugural ceremony to deliver remarks.

He noted, “We are here today to commission this very important edifice conceived by my predecessor, Henry Seriake Dickson. Public funds were put in here by my predecessor, and when I came into office, the government would have wasted all that money meant for the project if I had abandoned it.

He further noted that I would say the Commissioner for Works has all it takes to cover his office, and I would like to thank him, the Ministry of Works, and the Bayelsa Dredging Company who had this contract with me, and today we are here to commission it.

Meanwhile, he added in his remarks at the occasion that now to all of our transporters who are coming in from other states, who have transport terminals littered across the state, today marks the end of it.

Hr clarified that All transporters would terminate at this point. The state government has already procured vehicles that will add to the public transportation within the State Capital, Yenagoa. The inauguration ceremony of the transport terminal marks the government’s third anniversary. Prominent people from across the state widely attended the inauguration event.

The project will form an important part of the upliftment of essential services in the state and will streamline the transportation of the state.
