India’s G-20 presidency to initiate Startup-20 for member nations

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant interacted with the media during a press conference, where he expressed that India’s presidency of G-20 will be decisive inclusive and outcome-oriented. It is also the occasion where the initiative of Startup 20 will start.  He further emphasized that the G-20 comprises:
85% of the world’s GDP
78% of the world’s Trade
2/3rd of the world’s population

The qualities mentioned above make the G-20 an important global event. Talking further about the importance of the event, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant noted that the event is also critical in light of the crises the world is currently facing.

He also talked about a new engagement established as a part of the Indian presidency of G-20. The engagement group in question is called Startup 20. the initiative aims to develop a global narrative for supporting startups across the globe.

The official release of the Startup 20 pro stated that the initiative would also help further the synergies among startups, corporations, investors, innovation agencies, and other key ecosystem stakeholders.

One of the major objectives of the startup 20 initiative is to bring the global startup ecosystem together. The authorities, through a collaborative and forward-looking approach.

Per the official statement, the purpose of this group is to provide a platform for startups from members of the G20. The initiative further urges the startups to be brought together to develop actionable guidance. This guidance will be made available as a part of the Startups20 in the form of building the enabler’s capacities.

Additionally, the initiative will help the member countries identify funding gaps, enhance employment opportunities, achieve SDG targets and climate resilience, and grow an inclusive ecosystem.

According to the reports, The Startup20 activities will span over five events. The Inception Meet of Startup20 will be held in Hyderabad on January 28-29. The summit event will happen in July 2023 in Gurugram, with three intervening events planned in different parts of India.

The participating countries include the G20 nations and 9 observer countries from overseas. About 80 delegates are expected. Indian delegates expected are around 100, including Incubators, Startups, Investors, and Industry Partners, among others, the press release added.
