Nigerian actress Funke Akindele has stated that she will stop her acting career and become the Logos State deputy governorship candidate under the PDP (People’s Democratic Party).

It has been reported that Nollywood celebrity Funke Akindele has confirmed that she is the running mate of the PDP Lagos State governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, who is famously known as Jandor, through her Instagram account on Tuesday, July 12.

In the video that she published on Tuesday, she disclosed her reasons for becoming a running mate.

She stated that she saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and enhance the well-being of the country’s people, specifically the deprived youth, women, as well as the girl child.

My decision is not just to take this huge responsibility but to also work continuously and complement Jandor’s burning wish to see their dear Lagos live up to their full potential.

Meanwhile, the news of Funke Akindele’s desire to become the Lagos State deputy governorship contender comes after her husband Abdulrasheed Bello, who is popularly known as JJC Skills, announced that they both have decided to part their ways.

Bello, who confirmed their separation through an Instagram post at the beginning of July, stated that things had not been going smoothly between him and the actress for the past two years while adding that all efforts expended on reconciling their personal differences had proved to be abortive.

On the other hand, Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has not yet made any remarks about the separation from his husband.

Akindele-Bello Olufunke Ayotunde, popularly known as Funke Akindele or Jenifa, is a Nollywood film actress as well as producer. Akindele starred in the series ‘I Need to Know’ from 1998 to 2002, and then in 2009, she achieved the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
