Deputy Commissioner of Lakki Marwat and Bannu, Abdul Hadi and Manzoor Afridi banned the assembly of more than five people on Saturday. Khyber also made it into the list of areas to impose this restriction They instituted the ban after the authorities recieved credible information from trustworthy sources that fiends and inciters of violence are expected to attack people in crowded places.
The restriction will extend for five days from March 18, 2023, to March 23, 2023. The authorities of the two districts have announced that any persons who violate the ban and restriction imposed by the government will face serious consequences per the law.
Meanwhile, the government of Khyber has also imposed a similar restriction on gathering more than five people simultaneously. The administration set the condition ahead of the Jamat-i-Islami political gathering on Sunday, March 19. The Jamat-i-Islami announced that they are holding a public meeting under Tehreeq-i-Haqooq Qabail.
The political organization had made elaborate arrangements to stage the event. They had also invited several prominent political leaders from various political parties in the area. The government of Khyber imposed Section 144 late on Saturday, March 18. They charged the restriction on any type of gathering after receiving intel that some questionable individuals could pose a threat to the safety and security of the people of the district.
Meanwhile, the authorities have clarified that the restriction on the gathering will extend as per the suiting of the government. The government can extend the imposition of section 144 to accommodate the security concern in the state. The authority is finding it hard to agree on the issue’s timeline. The restriction will remain in place in the two districts for six days.
After the government is satisfied that they have dealt with the security concern to the best of their satisfaction and that there is no longer a threat to the personal security of the people of their respective areas, they will reove the imposition of the ban.
