The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azaad has claimed that the removal of the Article 370 has put a stop to incidents of stone pelting and terrorism. The former chief minister has claimed that although the removal of Article 370 was not in favor of the state, it helped the state in dealing with issues of terrorism and stone pelting.Â
The politician made these remarks on Sunday. He stated that Terrorism is in no one’s favor. The politician condemned the incident of terrorism in Rajouri and Poonch. He claimed that these incidents are a matter of concern for the government. The Kandi region of Rajouri has been struggling with exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists.Â
The encounter took place between the terrorists and the security forces. The sources suggest that as a result of the tussle, five members of the armed forces lost their lives. The search operation for the terrorists began on Friday, May 5, 2023. The operation continued throughout the weekend, till Sunday, May 7.Â
In line with this, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir,Ghulam Nabi Azad remarked that while he believes center should not have done many of the things that they did, However, the decision of removing article 370 worked in favor of fighting terrorism in the country.Â
The government has accordingly started a search operation in the district for the terrorists. The Indian Army started an anti terrorist campaign to neutralize the threat in the Kandi region of Rajouri district. The exchange resulted in the death of an army personnel. Meanwhile, the operation neutralized one of the terrorists and the other sustained serious injuries.Â
The Defence Minister in the central government of India, Rajnath Singh also reached Rajouri on Saturday, May 6. He took the opportunity to review the security arrangements of the state in the midst of the tussle between terrorists and armed forces.Â
