Dominica: Kavem Hodge and Alick Athanaze honored as sports ambassadors

The Government of Dominica has appointed cricketers Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge as sports ambassadors of the country. The two players are members of the Senior Men’s team of West Indies Cricket.

The Government of Dominica has appointed cricketers Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge as sports ambassadors of the country. The two players are members of the Senior Men’s team of West Indies Cricket. They recently made their country proud with their performance during a match against the UAE. The One Day International (ODI) cricket match took place earlier in June 2023.

The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica honoured the cricketers for joining the international team. Alick Athanaze, one of the newer members of the West Indies team, made a remarkable debut in the game. He played a significant half-century in the ODI Game, leading his team to victory.

The West Indies men’s team also included Kavem Hodge in their ranks for the match. Accordingly, this was the first time a West Indies team match had seen two dominica players on the field together. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shared an update on the significant event on his social media.

Meanwhile, he also met and interacted with the Dominican cricketers and shared his experience. He wrote I met with the two cricketers earlier today to congratulate them on the recent successes in their cricketing careers and assure them of the Government’s support.” He expanded on the significance of giving honour to the players.

Accordingly, The Prime Minister remembered that Alick Athanaze made a phenomenal debut in the One Day International. He played against the United Arab Emirates. The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica was extremely proud of the performance of the young cricketer.

During his debut, Athanaze made a record-making half-century for his team against the UAE. In the One Day International, he accompanied another significant and senior player of the same roots as him. Kavem Hodge made his cricket debut in 2012, and he is one of the most promising players in the team.

The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, congratulated the sportsmen for the honour that had been bestowed on them.
