The Commissioner of Police in the Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, took the opportunity to patrol some strategic locations in Kano Metropolis. The Commissioner of Police took up the patrolling initiative in the early hours of Monday, July 24, 2023. He further visited crime scenes for on-the-spot assessment of the investigations. He also took the time to interact with the supervising senior Police Officers of the Command.
During his visit to the crime scenes of shop breaking and theft at Dakata and Fagge Quarters Kano, the Commissioner of Police ordered for discreet investigation. He called on the Officers not to relent but to remain steadfast in crime fighting.
Further, the same day, Monday, July 24, the Commissioner of Police held a significant meeting with the Command’s prominent members. The officials who met and interacted with the Comissioner of Police included:
- Departmental Heads,
- Area Commanders,
- Divisional Police Officers (DPOs)
- Tactical Commanders
- Sectional Heads
The Commissioner of Police also interacted with the Senior Police Officers of the Command.
He commended the officers for their display of professionalism and commitment to duty. He reminded the Officers that the reward of good work is more work. The Commissioner of Police, therefore, charged officers to redouble efforts in crime fighting as much is expected of them.
He directed the officers to continue round-the-clock visibility patrol and incorporate non-kinetic approaches to tackling crimes. He stated that they can achieve this by resorting to community-based policing.
The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel stated that the approach is yielding positive results in the State. Accordingly, the commissioner of Police charged the Police officers of the Command to continue to key into the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The Commissioner of Police stated tbhat they would do so by exhibiting professionalism, zero tolerance for corruption and operating an open door policing in line with the provisions of community policing policy.
