The Minister of External Affairs in the government of India S Jaishankar interacted with the Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. The two leaders co-chaired the first Joint Commission of cooperation between India and Namibia. During the meeting, the politicians discussed several matters where the nations need to work on advancing ties.
These issues include, energy, green hydrogen, transport, connectivity, digital, pharmaceuticals, food security, science, technology and culture. The Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar took to his official Twitter account to share the updates from this significant meeting. He stated that it is important to build contemporary cooperation between India and Namibia.
The two nations must forge international ties on the basis of political goodwill and growing development partnership. The Deputy Prime Minister also handles the responsibility for the ministry of finance in the government of Namibia. The Minister of External Affairs asserted in his social media post that the Indian government is willing to build on long-standing political goodwill that the two nations share. In his update, Dr Jaishankar stated that the regional and global issues of both the nations are similar.
Accordingly, they are making efforts to increase cooperation between the two nations. The Minister of External Affairs traveled to Namibia on Sunday, June 4, 2023. During his visit, the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, Jenelly Matundu recieved him. He landed in Windhoek and greeted the members of the Indian Diaspora on Sunday. Jaishankar also took the opportunity to thank the international community for their support and condolences in the wake of the Odisha train crash.
He asserted that he recieved messages bearing words of condolences and solidarity from across the globe. Accordingly, he observed that this is a proof of how connected the world is with India. Dr S Jaishankar acknowledged the messages of solidarity which he received from Namibia and thanked the leaders for the same.
