Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit extends condolences on Odisha tragedy

Roosevelt Skerrit, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the government of India after the country recorded a tragic incident in the form of a triple train collision in the Balasore district of Odisha in India.

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the government of India after the country recorded a tragic incident in the form of a triple train collision in the Balasore district of Odisha in India. PM Skerrit took the opportunity to share his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. 

He wrote on his Twitter account that Dominica’s people and government send heartfelt condolences to the People and the Govt of India on the Tragic Train Accident in #Odisha. He stated on behalf of the people and his government that they share in the country’s grief as they navigate this difficult time.

The three-train collision in Odisha resulted in the deaths of almost 300 people. The official statistics suggest that 900 people have sustained various degrees of injuries. The incident took place on Friday, June 2, 2023. As per the reports from the Railway Minister of India, the Coromandel Express derailed from the track and collided with a goods train. 

As a result of the first collision, 10-12 coaches of the Coromandel Express fell on the opposite track. Afterwards, the derailed coaches collided with the Howrah-bound Yesvantpur Express. The train was approaching from the opposite direction. The collision of the coaches with the Yesvantpur Express added further to the tragedy. 

The Commonwealth of Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, committed to supporting India in this trying time. Meanwhile, The three-train collision is one of the worst tragedies in the country. Accordingly, the Indian Authorities have announced that they would provide ex-gratia of INR. 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased

The accident resulted in the deaths of 300 individuals, and 900 people got injured due to the devastating accident. Accordingly, The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, visited the accident site and extended his heartfelt condolences. The government of India is making every possible effort to rescue the victims.
