The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, aims towards an Information Communication and technology-driven public service vision. In line with this, the state’s Ministry of Lands, under Prof Offornze Dike Amucheazi, has begun training ministry staff on digital technology in processing Certificates of Occupancy, among other land-related documentation.
According to the Commissioner for Lands, Prof Offornze Amucheazi, computerized application and processing of Certificates of Occupancy would improve service delivery. Accordingly, he entrusted the ministry staff with the responsibility of exercising transparency and accountability in discharging their duties. The training sessions for the ministry staff are currently under process.
Prof. Amucheazi delivered brief remarks at the ongoing training session on the digitization of land administration organized. The government has convened the training for the ministry staff at their Geographic Information System (GIS) office in Awka. Meanwhile, He also explained that the computerized application and processing of Certificates of Occupancy, among others, is part of the ongoing transformation in the ministry.
The processes aim to transition the ministry’s activities from a manual to a digital mode of land administration. Prof Offornze Amucheazi also declared that in no distant time, people could make payment of any land registration that the government has approved. Meanwhile the people can pay the documentation fees electronically at the Geographic Information System office located within the ministry’s premises.
While explaining that digitization of land administration in Anambra State is long overdue, the Commissioner thanked Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his vision of creating an enabling environment for an ICT-oriented public service that would make room for better and faster service delivery.
The Commissioner reiterated that Professor Chukwuma Soludo led the APGA administration in Anambra State, frowns at land grabbing and encroachment of any kind, warning ministry staff never to be found wanting in their responsibilities.
The training session had in attendance the Permanent Secretary, Lands, Edwin Ejike; Surveyor-General, Chinedu Idigo; HOD Lands, Chineze Obi; Director of Account, Adaeze Egwuatu, among others.
