Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs has directed the stakeholders to conduct free and fair elections in all communities. The Anambra government seeks to ensure that the polls conclude per the various communities’ constitutions. In line with the directive, the commissioner of police in the Anambra state, Tony Collins Nwabunwanne once again instructed his gallant team to finish the job as usual.
Following the elections, Commissioner Nwabunwanne restored the confidence of the masses by ensuring that the rules laid out in the constitution of each community regarding conducting town union elections were adhered to strictly.
The latest communities that benefit from honest, free and fair elections are as follows:
1. Ihiala Community – Successful
2. Adazi-Nnukwu Community – Successful.
3. Oroma-etiti Community – Successful.
4. Okpuno Community – Successful. Morgan John
5. Nimo Community – Successful.
6. Umunachi Community – Inconclusive ( Rescheduled for 29th December 2022) – Amb Adichie Izuchukwu
Following the elections in all the communities, The common trend is that the people celebrate with the winners. The community’s people throw the winners up in joyful moods after each election. Meanwhile, the losers come out openly to accept defeat and pledge to give maximum support to the winners. The gesture is important so that the town can benefit from the developments promised by this administration.
At the same time, It is important to commend the Governor of Anambra, Charles Chukwuma Soludo. The praise comes because he took the initiative of ensuring that no individual or groups hijack the mandate of the masses anymore.
There were reports of a difficult election in Ihiala Town. However, the TC Chairman of Ihiala Local Government, Kingsley Obi (Saudi)’s hands-on and grounded approach helped stabilise the situation. The rugged security operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) also helped in ensuring that the elections concluded successfully in the Local Government Areas.
