The people of China have shared their criticisms and dissatisfaction with the government through their social media accounts. Allegedly, the government of China forces the people to work overtime. Accordingly, the people have taken to various social media to share their discontent.
As per the labour laws or the country, the work week is limited to 5 days. However, many employers force their employees to work beyond the prescribed work week, without extra payment. The corporations are accordingly, violating labor laws.
Additionally, these companies also defraud the wages of their workers, force them into working double shifts and do not provide working benefits to the people. Meanwhile, the employees are not allowed to form workers’ unions. If any groups tries to organize themselves into unions, the corporations fire them.
Meanwhile, the female workers have come forward with complaints of sexual harassment . The issue has emerged as one that has seen no real solution. The country is a hub for fraudulent programmes that seek to cheat the poor and the naive. These fraudsters also kidnap women and push them into prostitution.
The sources have suggested that China has clear regulations on overtime work, rest and vacation. However, these regulations do not get implemented in practice. The Republic of China implemented the labor laws in 1995. These laws, rules and regulations account for several restrictions that are put in place for the benefit of the employee.
These rules and regulations state that working hours of laborers will be no more than 8 hours. Accordingly, average weekly working hours will be no more than 44 hours. The rules also emphasize that “workers shall have the right to rest and vacation.”
The regulations also state that the labourers and workers will get overtime in the event that the employer arranges for some work. While the labor laws of the People’s Republic of China are favorable to the workforce on paper. The government does not implement these rules and regulations on the ground.
