Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit announces construction of 6 schools at Press Conference

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, was recently featured in a press conference with the media members. During the press conference, he spoke about several issues of national importance to the people of Dominica. Among other matters of importance, Dr Skerrit provided an update on the construction of six schools. The People’s Republic of China is funding the construction of these schools.

The government members hosted the press conference on Thursday, June 1. During the interaction with the media, he touched on several issues of prominence. Among these, he shared the plans for the construction of the schools, including Goodwill Secondary School. The prime Minister noted that as per the most recent communication they have received from China, the project is currently in the tendering phase.

Dr Skerrit stated in their most recent update that the project is close to the commencement of construction. The Commonwealth of Dominica received their most recent communication from China on May 16, 2023. The prime Minister noted that the structure of the schools will begin shortly. Accordingly, the government is committed to finalizing a new site for the relocation of the students.

The country’s government will relocate the children during demolishing the structure and the reconstruction. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit added that they are working tirelessly to repair the schools damaged due to Hurricane Maria. He confessed that he looks forward to adding the six schools to the list. He expressed his confidence in the people of these communities.

According to him, these communities are happy to hear that the construction of the schools will start shortly. He noted that it is very good news that the government is in the final stages of creating the schools. The Prime Minister stated that the members of the communities are very happy about the construction of the new schools. He especially applauded the students and teachers of Goodwill Secondary School for their patience and cooperation to the government.
