Dominica: Roosevelt Skerrit shares details of airport developments with media

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit hosted a media interaction on Monday, March 27, 2023. The event was half at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room. The Prime Minister accompanied the Minister responsible for environment, rural modernization, Kalinago Upliftment, and constituency empowerment Cozier Frederick.

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit hosted a media interaction on Monday, March 27, 2023. The event was half at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room. The Prime Minister accompanied the Minister responsible for environment, rural modernization, Kalinago Upliftment, and constituency empowerment Cozier Frederick.

Both ministers provided several significant updates regarding the workings of their respective ministries. The Prime Minister touched on several critical issues and provided the media with important updates regarding the various developments in the country. Dr Skerrit talked about the tourism industry and provided a significant update about the results in constructing the international airport.

Prime Minister Skerrit spoke to the media with respect to the international airport. He informed them that this week, he intends to lead a media tour of the airport site at Wesley. He further reiterated that preparatory work on the International Airport Project is ongoing. The Prime Minister shared that they have hit several targets at the site.

Prime Minister asserted that the development and construction of the airport is in keeping with all legal and technical requirements. He noted that “my office id making the necessary arrangements and intend to inform the media shortly of the specifics.” He adressed the people of Dominica and said that he is looking forward to bringing you and the people of Dominic along for a look at the work we have done so far.

Additionally, Prime Minister added that they have worked on preparing the site to set the various aspects that will aid in the airport’s construction. Accordingly, the people of Dominica are seeing a lot of clearing taking place in certain areas to do further geotechnical surveys on the site.

Once those things are in place, they will set aside all the necessary legal and technical requirements. Following this, then you will see the full stream of movement. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit asserted that they are in touch with equipment owners. They have sent us a proposal. The government is facilitating the discussions with the contractor.

They are engaging with the various authorities involved in the construction to have those pieces of equipment locally owned to be employed at various times during the construction of the airport
