Saint Lucia: Ernest Hilaire attends District 4 school rally independence celebration

The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, took to his social media to share glimpses from the District Four School rally event he attended as a part of the 44th Independence celebration. He joined the District Education Officer at the celebration event.

The Ministry of Sustainable Development, Education, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training hosted the celebration event ahead of the country’s independence day.

The Ministry organized the District Four School’s rally on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. The organizers chose Stanley Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary School’s Auditorium as the venue for the event. The School rally started at 10:00 AM on Tuesday.

Talking about his experience at the schools’ rally, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire shared that he was honoured and proud to join the celebration. The teachers and students of District Four were also in attendance at the event. He applauded the talent of the students that he got the chance to witness at the school celebration.

Articulating his experience into words, Deputy Prime Minister Hilaire stated: It was a Wilbert celebration which highlighted the theme and the abundance of talent we possess in our beloved land. All the events slated in the independence calendar of the country are celebrated under the common theme of Douvan Ansanm: One People. Shaping Our Destiny.

The venue, Stanley Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary School’s Auditorium was decorated in the national colours of Saint Lucia, showcasing the country’s commitment towards uplifting and engaging their national pride. During the rally, Deputy Prime Minister Hilaire delivered brief remarks and lauded the talented students and teachers of the schools in District 4.

The government of Saint Lucia published the lineup of their 44th Independence anniversary celebration on January 30, 2023. The schedule featured several prominent events scheduled through the month and a half that will take place till March 14, 2023
