The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, has taken to his social media to express his excitement for the women who received recognition during the 41st National Sports Awards.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, has taken to his social media to express his excitement for the women who received recognition during the 41st National Sports Awards. The athletes received appreciation in their various respective fields. While applauding the sports people of Saint Lucia, The Prime Minister wrote: Congratulations to all the sportsmen and women who were celebrated at the 41st National Sports Awards.

The Ministry of Youth Development & Sports is responsible for hosting the 41st National Sports Awards. The awards form a regular feature of Saint Lucia’s Independence Anniversary celebrations. The Ministry of Youth Development & Sports hosted the award ceremony at the Royalton Resort & Spa on January 18, 2023. The Prime Minister and Minister of the youth Economy of Saint Lucia shared some glimpses into the event through his social media.

He shared images of the sportsmen and women receiving their awards at the ceremony event. At the same time, he extended his heartfelt wishes to the supporters of the athletes who devoted their time, efforts and energy to assisting the successes of the sports individuals.

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre wrote: To the parents, coaches, administrators, officials, the Ministry of Sports and support systems who assist our athletes in their daily quest for excellence, thank you for showing up!

Athletes in various fields received their share of fame and recognition. Per the update shared by the Prime Minister and Minister of Youth Economy:  

  • Mikaili Charlmagne won the Junior Sportswoman of the Year award in the Swimming category.
  • Tristan Dorville also won the Junior Sportsman of the Year award in the swimming category.
  • Julien Alfred won the Sportswoman of the Year award in the field of Athletics.
  • Finally, Jayhan Odlum-Smith also received the honour of being the Sportsman of the Year in the swimming category. 

Several social media users also took to the comment section under the Prime Minister’s post to express their wishes. They congratulated the athletes for their achievement.
