Nigerian Youtuber and social media influencer Tayo Aina believes that Egypt- A country in North East Africa, is one of the most difficult African countries to explore. He undertook the journey to Egypt in the final months of 2023. He has shared several glimpses of the adventures that he took up on his social media account.
In the youtube video that Aina shared recently on his social media, he shared that many travellers and travel vloggers refrain from travelling to the country. He also confessed that the country was not on his wishlist due to the hostility other travellers face in Egypt. One of the clips of the video featured travellers complaining about harsh customs and violence.
However, in the same breath, he confessed that he was excited to make his own opinion of the country. Here, Tayo Aina shared the first problem he encountered while planning his travel: Applying for a visa.
Notably, being in an African country, the YouTuber could not apply for a visa from Nigeria. He found a way around the issue through his Schengen Visa. However, he had to travel first to France and through France to Egypt. He observed that the visa regulations of Egypt treat Europeans better than Africans. The complete journey took him almost 48 hours.
Here, it is worth noting that the travelling time from Nigeria to Egypt is six hours. Meanwhile, he shared that the regulations of Egypt did not allow him to shoot the videos with his professional equipment. Reportedly, travellers also need a permit to use professional cameras and equipment for recording videos. Accordingly, Tayo Aina shared that he shit every video through his phone.
He shared that he visited several areas of Cairo where he landed. He confessed that the “vibe” of Cairo was similar to that of Lagos in Nigeria, where “everyone was always rushing to complete their works.” Another issue that Tayo Aina faced in his navigation of the country was that of language. Tayo Aina shared that almost everyone spoke Arabic in Egypt and it was difficult for him to communicate being an english speaker
