Professor Ngala promotes a safer environment by planting new trees

Professor Ngala planted some ornaments and fruit trees at the Polytechnic's Permanent site.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Monguno Borno State, Engr. Prof. Garba Mohammed Ngala FNSE, MNIMechE, has initiated a Tree Planting Campaign at the Polytechnic’s Permanent site in Monguno town of Monguno local government area of Borno State.

Furthermore, Professor Ngala spoke on the benefits of tree plantation and stated that this was the necessary step to take for two main reasons: primarily, the trees will protect the Polytechnic’s Permanent site from the harmful effects of erosion and wind. He also said Reducing Climate Change, Purifying Air, Saving Water and Reinforcing Soil.

He further added that the major amount of credit for this goes to the Borno State Ministry of Environment led by Engr. Emat Kois contributed to this campaign by providing 5000 seedlings, both fruits and ornamental trees, to the Polytechnic permanent site.

According to him, this move will not only generate a safer environment but will be appreciated in future, he added.

Intriguingly, Professor Ngala also inspected some of the in-progress projects happening at the Polytechnic permanent site that are in various stages of progress.

At the Polytechnic permanent site, Professor Ngala was welcomed by the team of contractors, who also acted as a host to the visit and toured the professor all the ongoing projects, where he stated optimism on the level of projects and asked them to speed up the pace of the works and ensure timely completion of the remaining ones.

The projects which were inspected were Administrative Block, Library, ICT Center, Vocational and Technical Education Department, Male and Female Hostels, Entrepreneurship Center, Engineering Complex amongst others.

The campaign was carried out in the presence of Deputy Rector Musa Mohammed Grandawa, the Registrar, Adamu Alhaji Usman, Ag. Librarian Bukar Ali Wassaram, Deputy Registrar Mala Garba Hussaini, as well as staff of the institution.
