Douye Diri receives former Bayelsa governor for New Year Visit

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, received the former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, at his country home on January 3, 2022. The former governor visited Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area on a New Year visit.

According to Senator Dickson, the new year’s visit deepened the relationship between him and the governor of Bayelsa. During his visit, Senator Dickson assured the attendants of the event that the success of the current prosperity administration remains his priority.

The wife of Governor Diri, Dr Gloria Diri, traditional rulers, and leaders of thought from Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA was in attendance at the event. Governor Douye Diri received Senator Dickson and extended warm greetings to him and his entourage.

Talking about the former governor’s contribution to Gov Diri’s political journey, he said he would continue to appreciate the role that the former governor, Senator Dickson, played in his political journey and thanked him for a visit.

In the same event, Governor Douye Diri commented on the 2023 Governorship and his 2nd term bid. Talking about the same Governor, Diri commended his Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for his resourcefulness. At the same time, he expressed his excitement at the gathering, including the PDP faithful. Meanwhile, the Governor of Bayelsa, Diri, also took the opportunity to announce that he had no plans to dump his Deputy in the re-election bid.

He refuted the rumours surrounding his Deputy Governor. The governor said, “Let me state this and clear the air, my Deputy has worked very well, and nobody told me to refer to him as a workaholic and resourceful.

He further added that Our pairing is a divine arrangement. Many stories make the round, so I will no longer use the Deputy Governor. That’s a lie. My Deputy will still be my running mate for our re-election.”
