Bayelsa: Gov Diri attends New Years Service, applauds past achievements

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri, attended the new year's service at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Sampou. In his address at the new year's event, The Governor acknowledged and thanked God for contributing to the senator's political journey.

Speaking at the New Year Church service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou, Governor Diri urged his political opposition to remember that the God who miraculously brought him to the office is still very much alive.

Governor Douye Diri described 2023 as a year of hope. At the same time, in his address, he insisted that the Prosperity Administration, under his leadership, delivers great infrastructures to the people in different sectors.

He said, “Our three Senatorial road projects are going on well. The priority is to link our riverine communities by roads. We have never owed our contractors, and in 2023, we will even pay more. He asserted that We are committed to completing the projects.”

Meanwhile, The Governor of Bayelsa commended the security agencies for maintaining law and order in the state. During the festive season, the Governor repeatedly applauded the security agencies for their contribution to maintaining peace in the area. At the same time, he assured the people of the state that the Bayelsa State remains safe for tourism and investments.

Further, Gover appreciated the residents and citizens of his state for their resilience and urged them to continue to support the government to deliver more.

Apart from the Governor, top government functionaries, including two members of the National Assembly, Fred Agbedi and Fred Obua, also attended the new year service at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou.

Additionally, The immediate aides to the Governor, led by the Principal Secretary, Mr Irorodamie Komonibo, also used the service to offer thanksgiving to God for His mercies over them in the past year and a greater 2023.
