Bayelsa Gov Douye Diri attends Christmas Mas, delivers address

The governor of Bayelsa, Douye Diri, attended a mass on On Christmas, December 25, 2022, hosted in honour of the occasion of Christmas. He also worshipped at the church in Sampou. 

During his visit to the church in Sampou, and the worshipping session, Governor Diri addressed the mass-goers. Governor Diri delivered a message for Christmas. He urged the people of Bayelsa State to exhibit love and make necessary sacrifices for the good of the nation. 

The governor said, “My message today is on sacrifice and love. I like to say that, as Bayelsans, if we truly call ourselves Christians, we must have a forgiven spirit and sacrifice our interest for the overall good of Bayelsa State.

Governor Diri further stated that As a federating unit, if all of us do that in our various states, then Nigeria will be a better place for all of us. He addressed the citizens of Bayelsa state with the words: My dear citizens of Bayelsa, let us begin to make sacrifices for ourselves and our state, and love one another, and it is through that Bayelsa will prosper.”

Senator Douye Diri delivered the address at a Christmas church service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou. The church is in the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area. Several important individuals attended the Christmas Service. The attendants included: 

  • Wife of Governor Douye Diri, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, 
  • Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo,

Further, the event was attended by several officials and individuals of importance, including: 

  • Tari Porri, member representing Ekeremor Constituency One in the state House of Assembly
  • Solomon Agwanana, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Bayelsa State chapter, 
  • His Royal Majesty King Bubaraye Dakolo, Agada IV, Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama kingdom and Chairman of the State council of traditional rulers, members of the state executive council and other top government functionaries.
