A Nigerian background checks and due diligence firm, Iverify.ng has launched a digital platform for verifying maids, nannies and other caretakers to lessen the number of kidnapping cases and assure child safety at home.
While speaking at the child security and due diligence webinar, which has a theme, “My Child, My Future, the place of due diligence in securing our Children”, an event conducted to educate parents on general safety in their homes, the founder of Iverify.ng, Zita Agwunobi, stated the security and protection of children start at home.
As per her, child security and safety start with the family values that the child has been told about since his birth, which ultimately translates to personal values as they grow up from their productive stage.
She said that parents involved in an independent verification company like the Iverify.ng to deliver extensive due diligence checks for their caregivers and housemaids would essentially lessen the risk of accommodating criminals and people with doubtable character in their homes.
She further stated that documentation is essential for a good caretaker as a folder is opened for the prospective employee, which is the personality involved. Documentation of who the caretaker is necessary for parents.
During due diligence, conversational chat is done with the person who will have to spend time with the children when hired.
During the event, other experts in digital learning as well as child care, like The Baby Lounge Chief Executive Officer, Itoro Ugorji, who talked on ‘Checklists for Intentional Parenting along with Caregiving in a Digital Age’ and Co-founder 9ija kids, Titi Adewusi, who spoke about ‘Keeping your child safe on the internet’, praised the organisers for informing parents on child security.
They further advised all the parents to guide and keep a look at what their child is doing on social media.
