The accused was brought before Magistrate O.M. Ajayi at a Magistrate Court in the Ebute Metta area, where he faced charges of defilement of a minor.

The police, in their remand application, requested that Folorunsho be held in prison custody while seeking permission to duplicate and send the case file to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The gravity of the charges prompted the police to ensure a thorough investigation and consultation with legal authorities.

The police prosecutor, Paul Ugorji, informed the court that the alleged incident occurred on October 4, 2023, at No 4 Adegbite Lane, Mushin, Lagos.

According to Ugorji, the arrest of Folorunsho was made by the Mushin Police Division following complaints lodged by the victim.

Subsequently, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for a meticulous and discreet investigation.

The charges against Folorunsho fall under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015, which deals with offences related to sexual assault on minors.

The legal system is taking a stern stance on crimes of this nature, and the alleged perpetrator will be subject to the full force of the law.

Cases of child defilement are particularly heinous, causing deep-seated emotional and psychological trauma to the victims.

The court’s decision to remand Folorunsho to prison underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the need to protect society from potential harm.

The legal process will unfold as the case file is sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, ensuring a meticulous examination of the evidence and adherence to due process.

The victim, who bravely reported the crime, will play a crucial role in seeking justice against the accused.

As the wheels of justice turn, it is imperative to recognize the importance of safeguarding the vulnerable members of society, particularly children, from such reprehensible acts.

The outcome of this case will not only determine the fate of the accused but will also send a powerful message about the commitment of the legal system to protect the rights and well-being of children in our society.
