Governor Oyebanji signed five new bills

Ekiti, Nigeria: The Ekiti state government led by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) completed its first anniversary in power on Monday. The Governor guaranteed a better future for the state as the solid foundation was settled in the first year.

On celebrating a successful first year, governor BOA signed five new bills (passed by ekha) into law.

The newly signed laws mainly consist of the following:

Ekiti State Lottery and Gaming Law 2023
Ekiti State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (EKDIPA) Law 2023
Ekiti State Electricity Power Sector Law 2023
2023 Supplementary Appropriation Law

The laws were briefly discussed at a ceremony held at the exco chamber, Governor’s office, Ado Ekiti, in the presence of Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye: Wife of Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji; Speaker EKHA, Rt. Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, members of EKHA and state executive council members with several others.

In the first year of Governor BOA’s administration, Ekiti witnessed great progressivism.

The Commissioner and the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the one-year anniversary stated that Governor BOA had applied the six-point agenda activation of his administration to bring development despite the financial complications.

Following are some remarkable achievements which are attained by the significant planning of the Oyebanji’s government:

Upgrading of the Data Centre at the Bureau of Statistics
Capacity building through training and development programmes for six hundred and twenty-seven (627) personnel in the local government service
Sponsorship of representatives of organized labour to attend the 2023 session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Switzerland
Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) training for local government chairmen and other top government officials at local government level
Capacity building/training of 381 staff in the local government
Training and establishment of 30 people with disabilities (PWDs)
Establishment of Government Café

Moreover, at first, the Governor of BOA’s administration opted to continue all the projects initiated under the rule of the previous government.

We bought Armed Personnel Carriers and other security gadgets for the police to improve the security in the Ekiti state, and Ekiti has accounted least incidents.

The Omisanjana, Ajebandele area and the Agric Olope axis side roads are being completed, and the 11-kilometre Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road is about to be completed in the near future.

Apart from this, governor Oyebanji reassured that the work of the airport facility will be done soon as the owners of land acquired by the administration to build the airport facility have been paid. They are actively working to meet the specifications set by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) and other federal agencies.

BOA’s government’s notable triumph was the restoration of electricity to Ekiti East and Gbonyin Local Governments after 14 years of darkness. The administration further respawned the social and economic life of these regions.

Along with this, parts of Ekiti West, including Erinjiyan and Ikogosi Ekiti, also witnessed the return of electricity in their region and ignited hope in people who are still lacking this important resource.

Notably, with strategic placement of proficient individuals in key positions in the the agriculture ministry has improved not only the economic growth but also ensured the food security and the empowerment of the people of Ekiti.

With the success in various political sectors, the Governor also focused on qualities of humility and servant leadership. His approach is to emphasize the importance of genuine connections with the people.

Despite facing some initial setbacks, the Oyebanji administration is constantly delivering impressive governance.
