St Kitts and Nevis Police Dept receives new vehicles, PM Drew prioritizes safety

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terence Drew handed over the keys of six new vehicles to the fleet of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew handed over the keys of six new vehicles to the fleet of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force at a ceremony held at the Police Training School on Thursday.

As per reports, the seventh vehicle is expected to join the fleet soon. PM Drew engaged in talks with the Commissioner of Police, James Sutton, and gave keys to the vehicles to him.

Such investments in the advancement of police departments displayed their dedication to the well-being of their citizens. PM Drew and his government are strengthening its Police and Defence Force to upscale national security.

“Earlier today we had a symbolic handing-over ceremony at the Police Training School for a new fleet of vehicles for the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. Our government remains steadfast in its dedication to the safety and security of every citizen. Through strategic investments like these, we reinforce our commitment to ensuring a secure environment for all”, added PM Drew. 

The emergence of new vehicles in the Police Department is a symbol of the government’s support for their officers and a mark of respect and honour for the law enforcement officers who are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of all people in the Federation.

“These vehicles symbolize more than just transportation; they represent our unwavering support for our law enforcement officers and their tireless efforts to keep our communities safe. The government continues to make meaningful investments towards the safety and security of its citizens”, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis stated.

While speaking to the media, he revealed that these investments are a part of the Ministry of National Security’s wide strategic plan to strengthen and expand their inspection across the country. “This would allow law enforcement officers to be more effective in terms of coverage in the communities and so forth,” he said. 

In January, the leader of St Kitts and Nevis participated in a virtual interview, where he expressed his desire to enhance the Defence Force by expanding the CCTV facility and using new strategies and resources.

Noting this, a training camp for the police officers was organized under the assistance of PM Drew, where the officers were given training so they could look at the crucial matters affecting national security in a holistic manner. 

The prime minister, along with his government, is working diligently to combat crime in the country and has extended his support to the security agencies so they can maintain a zero-tolerance approach to crime.
