The encounter witnessed a dominant performance from the Tech Boys, as they inflicted the heaviest defeat of the season on the Daniel Ogunbodede-tutored Remo Stars side.

From the onset, Sporting Lagos showcased their attacking intent, seizing control of the game and capitalizing on their scoring opportunities with clinical precision.

The momentum swung in favour of Sporting Lagos early in the match, as they were awarded a penalty in the 4th minute following a foul on Godwin Odibo inside the box.

Junior Lokosa calmly converted from the spot, setting the tone for a commanding display by the home side.

Sporting Lagos continued to assert their dominance, doubling their lead in the 27th minute courtesy of a well-taken goal by winger Paschal Durugbor.

Despite a brief setback when Remo Stars pulled one back in the 37th minute through an own goal by Sporting Lagos defenders, the Tech Boys maintained their composure and regained their two-goal advantage before halftime.

Phillip Kehinde, facing his former team, showcased his aerial prowess with an acrobatic volley in the 48th minute, extending Sporting Lagos’ lead to 3-1.

The Lagosians further solidified their superiority in the 60th minute, as Philip Odubia’s overhead kick found the back of the net, sealing an emphatic 4-1 victory for the home side.

Reflecting on the remarkable win, an elated Godwin Enakhena, Chairman of Sporting Lagos FC, expressed his delight at the team’s performance, admitting that while he anticipated a victory, the magnitude of the triumph surpassed his expectations.

“Honestly, I did not see this massive win coming against Remo Stars,” Enakhena remarked. “Although, I see a win, but I did not expect a massive win. We should know that this is Remo Stars and of course, a local derby in the southwest, and I am glad that we took our chances.”

The victory solidifies Sporting Lagos’ position in the league standings, with four wins, one draw, and one loss in their six matches played so far.

Enakhena expressed optimism for the team’s future prospects, emphasizing that the impressive performance against Remo Stars is a testament to their potential for success in the ongoing season.

“Now, we have played six games, won four, drew one, and lost one. Better days are already here and have started long ago; this is just icing on the cake,” Enakhena affirmed, hinting at the team’s aspirations for further achievements in the league.

Sporting Lagos’ commanding display in the Southwest derby sends a clear message to their competitors, reaffirming their status as formidable contenders in the league as they continue their quest for glory in the season ahead.
