Friendly football matches begin, Kano Command promotes community policing

The police command of Kano State has started a series of friendly matches between the command and the various organizations of the state

The police command of Kano State has started a series of friendly matches between the command and the various organizations of the state. The official social media account for the Kano State Command shared the schedule for the same on July 31. The Police command hosted the first match of the series at Sani Abacha Stadium on August 2.

Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, led the Command’s Football Team to the Stadium. Meanwhile, The command kickstarted a football match to promote Community Policing in Kano State. The command was responsible for arranging the event. They received the support of one of the most functional NGOs in the state.

They are known as the “Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS)”. The football matches will take place over the course of the whole month. The police command seeks to use the games as a way for promotion of community policing.

The Kano state police command hosted the Friendly Match played between the Police Team and selected players from the repentant thugs (YANDABA), who are rightly rebranded as “Kano Youths Yearning for the Return of Sustainable Peace”, ended with 1:1 scores. Today, August 2 2023, at Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata, Kano.

The Executive Governor of Kano State was present at the ably Represented by DG Special Services, AVM Ibrahim Umar (Rtd), Madakin Kano and the District Head of Kano Municipal, represented by Alh. Farouk Abdullahi Sarki. Others include the Commander of Hisbah in Kano State, who Mal expressed—Mohammed Tasi’u and the Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Naseer Ahmad, among others.

The football-friendly event is the first community policing series in which the command is going to engage with Kannywood, Tiktokers, NUJ and YOSPIS in series II, III, IV and V, among other intended engagements by the command with critical stakeholders in the state.
