The data published on July 7 on the unified information portal reads that the district of Vratsa has become the 4th in Bulgaria to surpass the threshold to be downgraded from a Covid-19 green zone to a yellow zone.
In the district of Vratsa, as of July 7, the Covid-19 morbidity rate is 100.85 per 100,000 people on a 14-day basis, which is higher than the threshold of 100 to 249.9 per 100,000 people on a fortnightly basis to be categorised as a yellow zone.
Vratsa is one of four districts out of 28 in Bulgaria classified as yellow zones, along with the capital Sofia (173.47), the Black Sea towns of Varna (142.55), and Bourgas (137.02). The remaining 24 districts are green zones for the time being.
At 95 out of every 100,000 people as of July 7, Bulgaria’s 14-day Covid-19 morbidity rate is getting close to the 100-per cent threshold. The national Covid-19 morbidity rate for Bulgaria was 35.32 per 100 000 people on a weekly basis on June 6.
The Health Ministry of Bulgaria has issued an appeal in connection with the rising number of coronavirus cases in the nation.
The Health Ministry advised anyone with Covid-19-related complaints and symptoms such as headache, extreme fatigue, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, loss of appetite, etc., should isolate themselves and seek medical attention.
To avoid contracting SARS-CoV-2, the government advised those with even slight symptoms should postpone meetings with other people if they had.
The Omicron variant and its subvariants have an incubation period of three to five days, according to the health ministry of Bulgaria.
According to the ministry, symptoms of Covid-19 sickness include fever, cough, fatigue, muscular and joint discomfort, headache, sore throat, runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhoea.
The health ministry of Bulgaria also went on to say that vaccination against Covid-19 remains the most secure method of curbing serious disease, hospitalisation, and long-term health effects.
“Vaccines against Covid-19 also protect ones from a severe illness when infected with Omicron’s BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants,” said Bulgaria’s Health Ministry.
