Hajj 2022: 745 intending pilgrims left behind in Kano as last flight flies to Saudi Arabia

Around 745 intending Kano pilgrims missed the occasion of hajj this year as the last flight left them in Kano, Nigeria, on Thursday, July 7.

Around 745 intending Kano pilgrims missed the occasion of hajj this year as the last flight left them in Kano, Nigeria, on Thursday, July 7.

Some of the furious intending pilgrims blamed Governor Ganduje in collusion with other stakeholders and sold their seats to others who paid higher amounts, which made them lose the single chance they got in a year to perform the once-in-a-lifetime act of worship.

On Thursday, one of the intending pilgrims said that he sold his farms and paid around three million nairas for over three years just to be denied a flight.

Another furious intending pilgrim, who was sent back after being taken to Saudia due to a fake visa, stated he would never forgive the ones involved in the allocation of the fake visa.

The last flight for pilgrims of Kano left the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at 3:40 om on Thursday, July 7, for Saudi Arabia after taking 200 intending pilgrims to join others from another state already in the aircraft, leaving behind around 745 others, including Muhammad Abba Danbatta, the Executive Secretary of Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board and some directors of the board.

With several intending pilgrims left abandoned at the airport and hajj camp for several days, Danbatta blamed the last-minute dismay on the failure of NAHCON to honour the rescue mission arrangement after the starting disappointment from Azman Airline, which led to an extension in date by the Saudi government.

At the Hajj Camp, one of the intending pilgrims, Jibrin Abdu from Gezawa, became the centre of attraction after he was seen dressed in the haram white robe and said that he had started his pilgrimage already at the camp.

On the other hand, Jaiz Bank, which managed the hajj savings scheme for many of the intending pilgrims who could not fly to Saudi Arabi from Kano for the event, had acquitted itself of any fault in the incident.
