Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, known officially as Tems, has bagged a nomination in the category of ‘Best Hip Hop’ in the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2022 for her work in the Future’s hit collaboration name ‘WAIT FOR U’, which features her and Drake.

Tems has got an award nomination for the organisers of the favoured US award present, the MTV Video Music Awards 2022.
Earlier BET, Billboard and now MTV Video Music Awards of this year, award-winning performer and singer Tems is continuously rising in her career as she has been nominated for the VMAs 2022, because of her massive contribution in Future’s hit collaboration together with her and Drake within the Greatest Hip Hop award class.
The complete list of nominations which was presented on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, had the name of one Nigerian artist nominated for any of the awards.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday, August 28 and would give room for Tems so as to add another feather to her cap on her strategy of international domination.
The multitalented Nigerian singer, songwriter as well as record producer, Tems, rose to gain fame after she got featured on ‘Essence’, Wizkid’s 2020 single, which made it to the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 after a remixed version was released with an additional feature from well-known singer Justin Beiber and this also got her a Grammy Award nomination.
During the same year, Tems got featured in the song ‘Fountains’ by Drake.
In 2022, her vocals from her song ‘Higher’ were featured by Future on his single, ‘Wait for U’, which made her the featured artist on the song. It Debuted at the top point of the Billboard Hot 100, which made her the first African artist to debut at number one and the second Nigerian artist to be at the top of the chart.
